Welcome to the Franklin County Schools’ Career Technical Education (CTE) webpage. Franklin County Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) strives to challenge students and effectively prepare them to live and work in a highly technical society as well as train students who wish to use learned skills in their community. Career Technical Education Programs in Franklin County provide opportunities for students to gain skills, credentials, and certifications at three comprehensive high schools in the areas of: Agriculture Education, Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Occupations, Marketing Education, Technology, and Trade and Industrial Education.
During the past school year 4,580 students took at least one Career Technical Education class in Franklin County. Credential testing is offered and encouraged in all program areas in accordance with the industry recognized credentials identified by the Department of Public Instruction to ensure quality programs and high expectations for all students. Franklin County Students may acquire industry credentials in Microsoft ITA Business, NCCER Carpentry, Masonry, HVAC/ACR, ServSafe, Food Service Manager Certification, CPR and Basic First Aid Certification, Nurse-Aide-Level I certification, Adobe Certified Associate Digital Media, and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) technician certification. We have increased the rigor in offering several honor courses: Accounting II, E-Commerce, Computer Programming, Small Business Entrepreneurship, and Medical Science II as a part of CTE’s commitment to high expectations. Franklin County Schools has a strong partnership with Vance-Granville Community College through Articulated Credit, Huskins, and Dual-Enrollment course offerings. Additional educational services are provided to Special Populations Students enrolled in CTE programs. Franklin County Schools CTE programs has strong community and business support. As a result, we have been able to implement innovative programs.
